Remove a Background From JPG, PNG, or WebP
CutMyBG
CutMyBG accepts three image formats. They do not store transparency the same way, which is why the download is always a PNG.

JPG
JPG is the usual format for camera and phone photos. It does not support transparency, and it compresses the picture by discarding some detail. You can remove the background from a JPG. The result is a new PNG, not a modified JPG. Soft JPG artifacts around hair can show up as a slight fringe in the cutout.
PNG
PNG can already be transparent. Screenshots, logos, and graphics are often PNG. CutMyBG still outputs a new PNG of the cutout. If your PNG was already a clean transparent logo, you may not need the tool. If it is a screenshot with a solid background, removing that background is a normal use.
WebP
WebP is a common web image and can be opaque or transparent. CutMyBG reads WebP files and still downloads PNG, so the result is easy to open in tools that expect a standard transparent image.
What is not accepted
GIF, HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are not accepted. Convert those to JPG, PNG, or WebP first. Files over 15 MB, or over 24 megapixels, are declined. The free background remover page lists those limits in one place.
