How to Remove a Background From an Image
CutMyBG
You need the subject of a picture without the scene behind it. This is a practical way to do that with CutMyBG, including what to check before you trust the file.
Open the image background remover
Start with a file the browser can read
Use a JPG, PNG, or WebP under 15 MB and 24 megapixels. If the image is a HEIC photo from a phone, export or save it as JPG first. Screenshots are fine when they are PNG or JPG.
Remove the background
- Open the remover and drop the file in, or paste an image.
- Start removal. The first time, wait for the AI model to load. That wait is a real download, not a placeholder.
- Leave the tab open until the preview appears. You can cancel if you picked the wrong file.
Check the cutout before you download
The checkerboard is empty space, not a texture in the file. Drag the comparison slider and look for three problems: background left behind, subject missing, and a halo of the old color around the edge.
Hair, bicycle spokes, and glass are the usual trouble spots. A cleaner source photo often helps more than running the same difficult image again. Notes for camera pictures are in how to remove a background from a photo.
Download and keep the original
Download PNG saves the transparent result. CutMyBG does not replace your original file. Keep the source if you might need the version with the background still in it.
