How to Remove a Background From a Product Photo

CutMyBG

Catalog images usually need the product alone, so it can sit on white or on a store template. A background remover can make that PNG. The photo you start with still decides how clean the edge is.

Remove a photo background

Photograph the product so the edge is obvious

A simple backdrop, even lighting, and the product fully in frame make the cutout easier. Crop out stands, hands, and extra props unless they are part of what you sell. Reflections on a glossy table often get removed or partly kept. Look at them in the preview.

Decide what should happen to the shadow

Many marketplaces want the product on pure white, without a floor shadow. CutMyBG tends to clear the backdrop, including soft shadows. If your template adds its own shadow later, that is usually what you want. If the shadow was doing important work, keep the original photo as well.

Check the file you will upload

  • The download is a transparent PNG, not a white JPG.
  • Open it on a non-white background to see halos and missing corners.
  • If the store requires a white background, place the PNG on white in your editor and export the file the store asks for.
  • Very large camera files over 15 MB or 24 megapixels need to be exported smaller first.
